And as i was away, Nurses' Day happened to be on the 1st of August. And to all my dear nursing colleagues and friends.
HAPPY NURSES' DAY!
It's my 4th year celebrating Nurses' Day, 1st year being a Registered Nurse. And i must say that the experience so far has been've rather fruitful. It may be too early to tell exactly how nursing makes me feel. Its tiring but at the end of it all, very life fulfilling. Weeks ago, together with my colleagues, we looked after a patient, who had VIP relatives. And needless to say, apart from delivering the usual nursing care, we had to be very careful with what we said and you know the whole PR thing. And after that, we received a card with our names on it, complimenting our nursing care. Its things and people like these, that makes you want to keep doing it. Never mind the few hundred other ungrateful, grumpy, rude or demanding patients that bring you down. All it takes is just one to makes you want to keep going on. Anyway, i shall not go on..not exactly in a mood to talk alot today. But to celebrate nurses' day, i'll end with a very inspirational nursing poem which i love.
Being a NURSE means...
You will never be bored.
You will always be frustrated.
You will be surrounded by challenges.
So much to do and so little time.
You will carry immense responsibilityand very little authority.
You will step into people's lives
and you will make a difference.
Some will bless you.
Some will curse you.
You will see people at their worst...and at their best.
You will never cease to be amazed
at people's capacity for
love, courage, and endurance.
You will see life begin...and end.
You will experience resounding triumphs
And devastating failures.
You will cry a lot.
You will laugh a lot.
You will know what it is to be human
and to be humane.
HAPPY NURSES' DAY MISSIES!
impulsively and honestly,
yours truly
